WHAT IS A CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER?
Child advocacy centers exist to ensure children are heard, supported, and given a path toward healing.
-
A safe, child-friendly place where children and their families can begin to heal from the trauma of abuse.
-
A coordinated approach where specially trained professionals, including law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, and medical and mental health providers, work together to support children and families through the investigation process.
-
A source of guidance and connection, offering families support, education, and referrals to trusted community resources.
-
A compassionate environment where families and community members can learn about the impact of child sexual abuse and how to support healing.
